German Rex - GRX

This is a preliminary standard.

General  

The German Rex is a medium sized muscular and athletic cat, with a curly coat. The Rex mutation coincides with the Cornish.

Shape 

Top of head 

Medium sized, modified wedge with rounded contours. Top of head is slightly rounded. 

Muzzle and chin 

The cheeks are well developed. The muzzle is medium long, rounded. 

Firm chin. 

Profile  

Clearly curved, with a straight nose.   

Eyes 

Rounded, medium sized, well opened and wide set.  

The eye colour shall be uniform and corresponds with the coat colour.

Ears 

Medium sized, broad at the base with slightly rounded tips and set rather wide apart.

Size and boning 

Medium size, the boning is strong but not heavy.  

Torso 

Rectangular format. The breast is medium broad and rounded. The back is level. 

Neck 

Medium long  

Legs and paws 

Slender but muscular, of medium length. The paws are oval.  

Tail 

Of medium length, ending in a slightly rounded tip.

Short. 

Texture  

Wavy, very soft, silky and elastic due to the lack of guard hairs. The waves are tight and uniform.  

Whiskers and eye brows are crinkled.

Colour 

The colours not belonging to the original gene pool (chocolate, lilac, cinnamon, fawn, caramel, sepia and mink colours as well as their combinations with white) are not recognized. All other colours and patterns are recognized. Any amount of white is permitted.
